Reds' Phillips not in lineup Friday with turf toe

Cincinnati Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips (toe) is out of the lineup Friday against the Washington Nationals, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Analysis:

Phillips' turf toe issue prevented him from playing either Tuesday or Wednesday, and that absence will extend through Friday as well. Skip Schumaker will once again start at the keystone, batting seventh for the Reds.
