Athletics' Crisp to go at least 1 month with no baseball activity following epidural
The prognosis for Oakland Athletics outfielder Coco Crisp continues to worsen.
Diagnosed with a degenerative neck condition last year, Crisp is currently on the disabled list after reinjuring his neck earlier this month and is now expected to be out until around the All-Star break in mid-July.
"They are recommending an epidural, and he'll get that tomorrow (Friday)," manager Bob Melvin told John Hickey of the San Jose Mercury News. "But we are looking at at least a month of no baseball activity after that."
The 35-year-old began the season on the DL with an elbow injury and slashed a disappointing .044/.173/.067 13 games after he was activated.
Crisp has missed an average of 62 games per season during his six-year tenure in Oakland, which is concerning for the cash conscious A's as they still owe Crisp $22 million through the 2016 season.
