American League Game Summary - Houston at Baltimore

Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Davis' second homer Wednesday afternoon was a go-ahead solo shot in the eighth inning which lifted the Baltimore Orioles to a 5-4 win over the Houston Astros in the rubber match of a three-game set.

Houston scored three runs against a cruising Ubaldo Jimenez in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 4-4, but Davis pounded a Tony Sipp (2-2) belt-high fastball offering with one out in the eighth onto the walkway in right-center to give Baltimore a one-run advantage.

"You have to hit your spots or he'll make you pay," Sipp said.

Zach Britton fired a scoreless ninth to notch his 12th save of the season.

Davis also smacked a two-run blast for the Orioles, who had dropped three of their last four games coming in.

"I thought I did a better job of making an adjustment and making them throw it in the zone," Davis said. "I think that's big, not only for me but for everyone in the lineup."

Steve Pearce belted a solo homer, while Adam Jones and Jimmy Paredes had two hits and a run scored apiece in the triumph. Jimenez allowed four runs on 10 hits and a walk over his seven frames in a no decision.

Brad Brach (3-0) got the win with a perfect eighth.

Evan Gattis smacked a game-tying two-run shot in the seventh among his three hits and two runs scored for Houston, which had won three of its last four contests heading in.

Chris Carter's RBI double in the second opened the scoring, but the O's went ahead with a four-run fourth.

Paredes hit a leadoff double, Jones followed with a bunt single to put runners on the corners and the O's executed a double steal to manufacture a run. Jones broke for second and as Jason Castro threw to the bag, Paredes took off from third and beat Jose Altuve's throw to the plate with a head first slide to tie the game.

Davis then cracked his two-run blast onto the concourse in right and Pearce whacked a solo shot into the seats in left to make it a 4-1 Orioles advantage.

After failing to push across a run after loading the bases with one out in the sixth when Carter struck out and Castro flied out the center, Houston tied the game with its three-run seventh.

Consecutive one-out singles by George Springer and Altuve put runners on the corners before Springer scored on Preston Tucker's RBI groundout. Gattis then smashed his two-run shot into the Orioles bullpen to knot the contest.
