Analysis:

This is a bit odd, as Van Slyke has a reputation as a lefty killer and the Braves are trotting out southpaw Alex Wood on Wednesday. There has been no word of an injury, however, so it seems manager Don Mattingly just views Alex Guerrero as more deserving of the start in left.
