National League Game Summary - Philadelphia at New York

Flushing, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Wilmer Flores has had a nice start to his week.

And the Mets continue to own the Philadelphia Phillies.

A day after hitting a three-run homer that gave New York a win in the opener of this three-game set, Flores muscled a single out to left to give the Mets a 5-4 win in 10 innings over the rival Phillies on Tuesday night.

"I feel good," Flores said. "I feel great at the plate. I haven't changed anything, I'm just swinging at strikes and getting my pitch to hit."

New York has won seven of eight meetings against the Phillies this season and 19 off the last 24 games between the two clubs.

Jeurys Familia (1-0) recorded his first win of the season following two scoreless innings of relief.

Juan Lagares singled up the middle off Jeanmar Gomez (0-1) in the 10th, then Elvis Araujo entered and walked Lucas Duda. Philadelphia nearly worked its way through the jam once Daniel Murphy grounded into a double play, but Michael Cuddyer walked and Flores ended it with a single over Freddy Galvis at shortstop.

New York put up three in the third on a pair of two-out hits. Kevin Plawecki singled to lead off the frame, then Mets starter Jacob deGrom hustled out a possible double-play ball to reach first. The Mets had runners on first and second with two away when Duda shot a single past the shift and into center for a 1-0 lead.

Cuddyer followed Murphy's walk with a single to left that plated Lagares and Duda.

DeGrom, meanwhile, allowed two hits in the first and retired the next 11 batters he faced -- at one point striking out five straight -- until Grady Sizemore singled with one out in the fifth.

Philadelphia's offense was anemic over the first seven innings, but it came alive in the eighth.

After deGrom got the first out of the inning, Carlos Ruiz and Cesar Hernandez singled and knocked deGrom out of the contest. Hansel Robles came on and allowed a two-run triple from Ben Revere and a game-tying single to Galvis.

Alex Torres was then summoned out of the bullpen and surrendered a single to Chase Utley before Ryan Howard was called out on strikes. New York manager Terry Collins made his fourth move of the inning, bringing in Carlos Torres to get out of the jam, but Maikel Franco pulled a single through the hole on the left side to give the Phillies the lead.

"DeGrom pretty much settled in for his seven innings, then we were able to bounce back off their relievers," Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg said.

New York tied the game in the home eighth. Ken Giles walked Duda and gave up a double to Murphy that put a pair in scoring position to begin the inning. Following a strikeout of Cuddyer, Flores lifted a sacrifice fly into center that tied the game. Franco made a game-saving play at third as he charged a swinging bunt in the next at-bat and fired to first to get Darrell Ceciliani for the final out.
