Report: Dodgers trade Uribe to Braves for Callaspo in 6-player deal

It appears as though Juan Uribe and Alberto Callaspo will be swapping teams, mere hours after reported trade talks fell through.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have traded Uribe to the Atlanta Braves for Callaspo as part of a six-player deal, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

Callaspo was scratched from the Braves' lineup Tuesday after the two clubs re-engaged in negotiations. Reports surfaced earlier Tuesday that talks had broken down, and a potential deal was off because Callaspo blocked the trade. He has the ability to reject any deal prior to June 15.

According to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Braves are sending left-hander Eric Stults, right-handers Ian Thomas and Juan Jaime to the Dodgers along with Callaspo. In return, they may be acquiring right-hander Chris Withrow, is is recovering from Tommy John surgery, along with Uribe.

Uribe, who is hitting .247 with a home run and six RBIs in 29 games, became expendable to the Dodgers after rookie Alex Guerrero burst onto the scene. Justin Turner is also putting up good numbers for L.A. and is now manager Don Mattingly's everyday third baseman.

"I respect their decision," Uribe told reporters through an interpreter after Tuesday's 8-0 win over the Braves. "One never knows what's going to happen. If I play for another team, then I play for another team. I can't control what happens. You have to take things as they come. It's happened to me before. One day you're here, one day you're not. Thank God there are other teams that are interested in me."

Callaspo, who signed a one-year, $3-million pact with the Braves in December, has the ability to play multiple positions in the infield. He's hitting .206 with a home run and eight RBIs in 37 games.
