Cubs' Soler: 'So far, I don't feel good about what I'm doing'

It's not surprising that Chicago Cubs outfielder Jorge Soler feels inadequate when sharing a dugout with Kris Bryant.

Despite hitting .273/.337/.400 with three home runs through 42 games, that production is only satisfactory given the 23-year-old's own expectations.

"So far, I don't feel good about what I'm doing," Soler told Patrick Mooney of CSN Chicago. "I expect more from me."

Strikeouts plagued Soler during his brief taste in the majors last season and those same issues have grown in 2015, as the Cuban leads the National League with 60 strikeouts through 42 games.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon has been encouraging Soler to try to take more walks - something he's failed to do over his last seven games - but said it's important to remain patient with such a raw and talented hitter.

"We've been working with him regarding just approach and thinking different things at the plate," Maddon said. "Typically, he's that kind of guy that you have to be patient with. You can see the talent is awesome. You just have to wait for it all to show up. You can't get frustrated. You can't get upset with him. You can't get annoyed with him."
