Phoenix, AZ - Nick Ahmed hit his first career home run, but it was his double down the left-field line in the 13th inning that made the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-4 winners over the Chicago Cubs on Friday.

Tuffy Gosewisch doubled to the wall in right-center against Zac Rosscup (1-1) with one out and scored without a throw on Ahmed's liner to left.

Randall Delgado (2-2) pitched himself into a bases-loaded jam in the top of the 13th but got out of it unscathed to earn the win.

A.J. Pollock had four hits while Paul Goldschmidt and Ahmed each had a home run among their three hits for Arizona, winners in five straight.

The Cubs pushed two across in the top of the 10th. Rookie Kris Bryant was 0- for-4 with a pair of strikeouts when he stepped up against Addison Reed with one away and extended his hitting streak to 11 games. Dexter Fowler walked earlier in the inning, stole second and came around to score on Bryant's bloop single to right center.

After Anthony Rizzo was intentionally walked to set up a force at any bag, Starlin Castro ripped a liner to left to score Bryant and make it 4-2.

Hector Rondon recorded two quick outs in the home 10th but unraveled after that. Pollock doubled to deep left and on a 2-2 pitch, Goldschmidt smacked a game-tying home run.

Jon Lester matched a major-league record for his historically poor batting, but he once again got it done on the mound for the Cubs. The lefty went seven innings, allowing just two runs on five hits.

Lester went 0-for-3 at the plate, giving him 57 plate appearances without a hit to match Joey Hamilton and Ron Herbel for most hitless at-bats to begin a career.

Josh Collmenter allowed two runs in five innings for Arizona.

The D-backs got to Lester for an early run. Goldschmidt followed Pollock's triple with a single up the middle to make it 1-0 after the first inning.

Fowler's solo homer in the visiting third tied the score at 1-1, and Chicago took a brief lead on Addison Russell's infield single to third. Jorge Soler doubled to lead off the stanza and advanced on Junior Lake's bunt single.

But the D-backs answered in the form of Ahmed's homer in the fifth.
