When Prince Fielder last recorded multiple home runs in a game, the burly first baseman was still employed by the Detroit Tigers. At that point, incidentally, Mike Trout had only recently received his Rookie of the Year award while the first season of HBO's "True Detective" was still nine months away from premiering.

Clad in a Texas Rangers uniform on Friday night, the 31-year-old evoked a younger version of himself when he launched a pair of home runs against the New York Yankees, lifting his club to a 10-9 victory in his first multi-homer game since April 5, 2013.

In the top of the third inning, Fielder destroyed a hanging slider from right-hander Michael Pineda, affording the Rangers a 6-0 lead with a three-run blast into the second deck at Yankee Stadium.

Four innings later, his club's lead trimmed to three runs, Fielder crushed an offering from left-hander Chasen Shreve beyond the wall in center field, his fourth home run off a lefty this season.

Fielder missed most of the 2014 campaign after undergoing major back surgery, but has very much resembled the player who earned five All-Star appearances earlier in his career through the first two months of 2015. Heading into Friday's contest, Fielder has fashioned a .340/.397/.488 line (146 OPS+) through 41 games.
