Rangers place Kyle Blanks on 15-day DL

Texas Rangers outfielder Kyle Blanks was placed on the 15-day DL on Friday with a cyst on his lower back, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Analysis:

Blanks was held out of the lineup several times over the last week and will now land on the disabled list. The Rangers recalled Jake Smolinski in a corresponding move Friday.
