American League Game Summary - Texas at Boston

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Mitch Moreland finished with a solo homer among his three hits and drove in two runs as Texas claimed a 3-1 victory over Boston in the finale of a three-game series from Fenway Park.

Delino DeShields walked twice and scored a run for the Rangers, who won the set and have taken three of four overall.

"We wanted to get something going," Moreland said. It was a big series for us."

Wandy Rodriguez (2-2) gave up a run on four hits with five strikeouts and two walks over 6 2/3 innings. Shawn Tolleson tossed a scoreless ninth to post his second consecutive save.

Xander Bogaerts collected two hits and David Ortiz drove in the lone run for the Red Sox, who have struggled with producing runs in dropping four of their last six.

Clay Buchholz (2-5) was tagged in the loss for five hits and three runs -- two earned -- over his 7 1/3 innings.

Moreland's one-out solo homer in the fourth gave the Rangers a 3-0 edge, then Boston hit the scoreboard in the home half. Mookie Betts singled and reached third on a Dustin Pedroia double and eventually scored on an Ortiz groundout.

Rodriguez exited after a two-out walk to Brock Holt in the seventh, then Keone Kela surrendered a single to Bogaerts before ending the threat on a strikeout of Daniel Nava.

Kela threw a 1-2-3 eighth, then Tolleson stranded Ortiz after his leadoff double by getting Hanley Ramirez on a fly to center then striking out both Mike Napoli and Holt.

Texas loaded the bases with one out in the first on a base hit, bunt single and walk, then Moreland's grounder turned into two runs. Pedroia fielded it cleanly, but Bogaerts dropped the ball at second base after erasing Adrian Beltre, allowing both Shin-Soo Choo and DeShields to cross home.

"(Pedroia) threw it a bit wide. I went and got it and I should've made a good transfer at least," said Bogaerts. "I knew I wasn't going to make a double play but I should've at least transferred it good, but it was a bit away and just came out of my hand right there."
