Report: Phillies, Angels discussing Ben Revere trade

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Angels are reportedly turning to the Philadelphia Phillies in an effort to add much-needed outfield depth.

Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports the Angels and Phillies have been discussing a potential trade involving Ben Revere in recent weeks, but it's believed the two clubs have had difficulty agreeing on compensation. The report indicates the Phillies are seeking minor-league players in return.

With Cody Asche's impending return from Triple-A as a converted outfielder and the imminent call up of Domonic Brown, general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. appears focused on dealing Revere, who's making $4.1 million this season and possesses two additional years of club control.

The Angels, meanwhile, lost depth in the field after trading Josh Hamilton to the Texas Rangers last month, and could use an outfielder with speed.

Revere, who's hitting .258/.302/.340 with three triples this season, has nine steals to Los Angeles' 13. Though, nine of the Angels' total is courtesy of Mike Trout.
