National League Game Summary - Los Angeles at Milwaukee

Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Hours after Craig Counsell was named manager of the Milwaukee Brewers, his fingerprints were all over their 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Counsell pulled all the right strings in his managerial debut, as Milwaukee's pinch hitters went 2-for-2 and three relief pitchers combined to toss four scoreless innings.

"That's as good as it gets. That's a team win," said Counsell. "A lot of guys contributed to that win."

Counsell, who spent six of his 16 seasons as a player with Milwaukee, including the final five, had never managed before but had been in the Brewers front office since 2012 as special assistant to general manager Doug Melvin. He replaced Ron Roenicke, who was fired on Sunday after four-plus seasons.

The Brewers were blanked by Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw until the sixth inning, when Hector Gomez and pinch-hitter Gerardo Parra hit consecutive triples.

In the eighth, Gomez connected on his first career home run to pull Milwaukee within 3-2. Adam Lind hit for Michael Blazek (2-0) and doubled, chasing Kershaw from the contest.

Chris Hatcher (0-3) replaced the two-time reigning NL Cy Young winner and immediately relinquished the lead, serving up an RBI double to Carlos Gomez. He advanced to third on a ground out and scored to make it 4-3 when Ryan Braun beat out a slow dribbler to third base for an infield single.

Francisco Rodriguez picked up his fifth save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth.

Kyle Lohse started for Milwaukee and allowed three runs in five innings, while Kershaw was charged with three runs on five hits while striking out eight.

"Any loss is frustrating and disappointing," said Kershaw.

Rookie Joc Pederson greeted Lohse with a leadoff home run, his seventh of the season.

The Dodgers tacked on two more in the fourth, with Yasmani Grandal producing an RBI single and Juan Uribe lifting a sacrifice fly to center.
