Analysis:

The news for Cain only seems to have gotten progressively worse since he was first diagnosed with forearm tightness in early April. He's since resumed playing catch over the last two weeks, but the timetable for pitching in a competitive environment that the Giants outlined Sunday suggests a return shouldn't be viewed as forthcoming. It wouldn't be a surprise if Cain's injury sidelined him until mid-June, or perhaps even longer.
