The Colorado Rockies placed closer Adam Ottavino on the 15-day disabled list Monday with triceps inflammation in his throwing arm.

Ottavino, who has yet to allow a run this season in 10 appearances, was made unavailable Thursday after experiencing tightness in his triceps, but the right-hander returned Friday to pitch a scoreless inning.

Ottavino inherited the closer's job earlier this month when LaTroy Hawkins faltered in the role to begin the season. The 29-year-old has 13 strikeouts to two walks over 10 1/3 innings.

Right-hander John Axford is expected to assume ninth-inning duties in Ottavino's absence.

The Rockies recalled pitcher Jorge Rondon to take Ottavino's place on the roster.
