Verlander sought a second opinion that determined he's dealing with a strained right triceps muscle, Jon Morosi of FOX Sports reports.

Analysis:

The diagnosis is similar to the initial one that tabbed Verlander's injury a triceps strain that has continued to prevent him from throwing. It appears both he and the team are seeking as much information as possible as the ailment has sidelined Verlander longer than expected, but he doesn't appear to be any closer to being able to throw. Kyle Lobstein will continue to slot into the rotation in his stead.
