Tigers' Verlander still has no timetable for return

Amid continued inflammation in his strained right triceps, Detroit Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander will provide little more than moral support on his team's upcoming 10-game road trip.

Though Verlander's prognosis wasn't especially dire when he strained his triceps March 26, his recovery has stalled over the last two weeks and it remains unclear when he'll throw next.

"He'll go (on the road trip) because he may be able to throw at some point on the trip," manager Brad Ausmus told MLB.com's Jason Beck.

After fatigue forced Verlander to an early exit in a simulated game last Tuesday, a subsequent MRI revealed fluid in the triceps area that suggested the 32-year-old's arm "wasn't fully recovered," according to Ausmus.

Verlander, who wore a compression sleeve on his arm last week, won't throw again until the soreness in his triceps completely subsides, and it appears increasingly likely that he will require a minor league rehab stint before he can rejoin the Tigers.
