Rays' Jennings day-to-day with left knee soreness

Kim Klement / USA TODAY Sports

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Desmond Jennings is day-to-day with left knee soreness after leaving Saturday's 4-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays in the eighth inning and is not in the lineup Sunday.

Jennings has a history of left knee problems. The 28-year-old was sidelined for all of September last season because of the wonky knee.

The Rays wrap up a three-game series with the Blue Jays on Sunday before heading to New York for a three-game set with the Yankees beginning Monday, so Jennings won't have the luxury of an off-day off to rest his ailing joint.

Jennings is off to a slow start this year, hitting .222 with a pair of RBIs and five stolen bases in 17 games.
