Kevin Plawecki hit his first career home run and Matt Harvey came one out short of a complete game as the New York Mets evened the Subway Series with the New York Yankees with an 8-2 victory Saturday at Yankee Stadium.

Plawecki went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and crushed his first career home run off Yankees starter CC Sabathia in the fourth inning to give the Mets a commanding 5-1 lead.

That's all the run support Harvey needed. The Mets righty improved to 4-0 on the campaign with a 107-pitch effort, while Sabathia fell to 0-4 with his worst outing of the season.

CC Sabathia 5+ 9 7 0 2

The Mets put up a season-high eight runs, three home runs and matched their season record for hits with 12 in the victory.

Mark Teixeira was the lone bright spot for the Yanks, smashing his 371st career home run to pass Gil Hodges and Aramis Ramirez for 75th on the all-time list. With his solo shot, Teixeira now has three homers in the series.

Alex Rodriguez went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts, and was impressed with Harvey's stuff.

The Mets will send left-hander Jon Niese to the mound Sunday night to do battle with Yankees righty Nathan Eovaldi in the series finale.
