Jose Fernandez: (Elbow) Set For Live BP

Fernandez (elbow) will throw 15 pitches to live hitters Thursday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Analysis:

Fernandez has been slowly rebuilding strength in his surgically-repaired elbow in bullpen sessions over the past two months or so, and is now set to face live hitters for the first time since his procedure. He'll need to throw several live sessions before the team starts thinking about a rehab assignment, but a return in mid-to-late June seems possible in light of his progress.
