King Felix twirls 10th career shutout vs. Twins

Jennifer Buchanan / USA TODAY Sports

Just another day at the office for Felix Hernandez.

The Seattle Mariners right-hander solidified his standing as one of the most dominant hurlers in the game Friday night, tossing nine scoreless frames to notch his 24th career complete game and 10th career shutout in a 2-0 win over the Minnesota Twins.

The 2010 Cy Young Award winner scattered five hits and collected nine strikeouts without issuing a walk to improve to 3-0 on the season and propel the Mariners to a third consecutive win.

Solo homers by Nelson Cruz - who unleashed his major league-leading ninth blast - and Logan Morrison gave Hernandez all the run support he'd need.

Hernandez has now pitched at least eight innings while allowing two runs or fewer in six consecutive games against the Twins.
