(SportsNetwork.com) - It's been a rough start to the season for Stephen Strasburg. The right-hander, though, has a perfect opportunity for his first win of 2015 by facing a team he's dominated in his career.
Strasburg leads the Nationals against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies in the finale of a four-game series Sunday afternoon.
In two starts this year, Strasburg has been pounded for 19 hits and 11 runs -- eight earned -- over 10 2/3 innings. He yielded a career-high 10 hits and five runs in 5 1/3 innings of Tuesday's 8-7 setback to the Red Sox at Fenway Park.
He's performed well when facing the Phillies as evidenced by a 4-1 mark and 2.09 ERA in 11 starts. Strasburg has gone 4-0 over eight starts since the beginning of 2013 versus the Phillies.
David Buchanan is also aiming for his first win of the season. The Phillies right-hander has given up 16 hits and 11 runs over 8 2/3 innings in losses to Boston and the New York Mets this season.
Buchanan's only career start versus the Nationals came June 3, 2014 when he surrendered seven earned runs on 10 hits in six innings of Washington's 7-0 triumph in the nation's capital.
On Saturday, Odubel Herrera went 3-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored, helping the Phillies snap a six-game losing streak with a 5-3 win.
Freddy Galvis had a pair of RBI singles for the Phillies, who got another solid outing from Aaron Harang (2-1). The veteran hurler allowed three runs on seven hits with two walks and six strikeouts over six innings.
"Give a lot of credit for Harang setting the tone and giving us a quality start," Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg said. "He allowed our offense to chip away and do some things."
Bryce Harper hit a long home run for Washington, which had won three straight games.
Jordan Zimmermann (1-2) was tagged for four runs -- two earned -- on four hits and four walks in 6 1/3 innings.
"Two of them came around and scored. I have to clean that up and do better next time," Zimmermann said of his walks.
Philadelphia went 10-9 versus the Nationals last season.
