Gardner (wrist) underwent an MRI on Thursday, which confirmed his original diagnosis of a bone bruise.
Analysis:
X-rays on the wrist were negative, but the Yankees wanted to be completely sure that it wasn't anything more serious than a bone bruise and thus ordered the MRI. With the MRI coming back clean as well, Gardner remains day-to-day ahead of Friday's series opener against Tampa. Manager Joe Girardi said he hoped to have Gardner back Friday, but nothing is set in stone.
