Joc Pederson poised to land everyday role with Dodgers

Joc Pederson has elicited nothing but praise this spring from Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly, who hinted again Tuesday that the 22-year-old will likely take over as the club's everyday center fielder in 2015.

"Joc's kind of checked off all the boxes," Mattingly told ESPN's Mark Saxon.

Mattingly also noted there's been no discussion of sending Pederson to the minors to open the season in order to gain an extra year of control - much like the Chicago Cubs seemingly did with top prospect Kris Bryant - over the reigning Pacific Coast League MVP.

Pederson, like Bryant, looked decidedly comfortable with the major-league club this spring, hitting .389/.421/.796 with six home runs, four doubles and three walks across 22 Cactus League games.
