Orioles' Hardy to undergo MRA to check for labrum damage

Baltimore Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy remains pleased with how his wonky left shoulder has improved in recent days, but the 32-year-old will still undergo a magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) to determine if there's damage to his labrum.

"At this point, the way I feel, the way that it improved over the last few days, yeah, I feel pretty good about it," Hardy told MASN's Roch Kubatko.

Hardy, who hasn't appeared in a Grapefruit League game since March 25, battled shoulder issues earlier in his career, undergoing surgery in 2004 to repair multiple tears in his left labrum that resulted from a dislocation.

Hardy, however, insisted Monday he'll be ready to take the field on April 6 when the Orioles open the regular season in Tampa Bay, noting the disabled list is not a legitimate possibility at this point.
