Cincinnati Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco has left Sunday's spring training game versus the Los Angeles Angels with a cramp in his left quad.
Mesoraco pulled up just short of third base while running the bases on a Brennan Boesch double. He limped off the field.
"It's hard to tell whether you actually pulled it or it was a cramp," Mesoraco said after the game. "I've missed Opening Day enough. I want to be in there. Hopefully, I will be fine."
Mesoraco missed the season opener last season due to an oblique injury and later spent some time on the disabled list with a hamstring problem.
The Reds avoided arbitration with Mesoraco, who hit 25 home runs and drove in 80 runs in 2014, by signing him to a four-year, $28-million deal in January.
