Yankees' Teixeira suffers knee contusion after getting hit by pitch

New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira says he's fine after suffering a right knee contusion during a minor-league intrasquad game Sunday.

Teixeira, who was the designated hitter in the game between Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Double-A Trenton, exited the contest after getting hit by a pitch on the side of his right knee.

The 34-year-old slugger was treated with ice and sounded unconcerned when he returned from the club's minor league complex to Steinbrenner Field. Teixeira, who missed 32 games last year due to various ailments, said there were no plans for additional testing.

Manager Joe Girardi said Teixeira will rest a couple days and possibly return to the lineup Wednesday.
