Angels release Matt Lindstrom

Tim Heitman / USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Angels couldn't find room in their bullpen for right-hander Matt Lindstrom and released him on Saturday.

"It's just a little different for me," Lindstrom told Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. "I've never been released before. This is my 14th year of pro ball, first time released. Guess there's a first for everything. It is what it is."

Lindstrom posted a 5.03 ERA and career-worst 1.73 WHIP across 34 innings with the Chicago White Sox last season, forcing him to accept a minor-league deal with the Angels in February.

The 35-year-old saw his struggles spill into this season, as he allowed seven runs off eight hits in 5 2/3 innings.
