Alex Cobb: (Forearm) Cleared To Throw

Cobb (forearm) was cleared to throw Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Analysis:

After Cobb indicated a couple days ago that the pain in his forearm had disappeared, Rays doctors evidently agreed with the right-hander's self-assessment. He'll kick off his throwing program by tossing the ball from 60-to-75 feet with the team's athletic trainer, and should steadily increase the distance in the days to come. Cobb remains in line to miss the start of the season, but Saturday's news qualifies as a positive development in his recovery process.
