Jonathan Singleton: No Lock for Astros' Opening Day Roster

Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said it's "still to be determined" whether Singleton makes the Opening Day roster out of spring training, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Analysis:

Singleton got close to 10 at-bats on the minor league fields Thursday, as he is working on specific things with his swing. The 23-year-old leads Houston with six doubles this spring, but he's hitting .244 with 14 strikeouts in 41-at bats. If Singleton doesn't break camp with the team, Chris Carter would step in as the regular first baseman with Evan Gattis and Matt Dominguez as secondary options for the position.
