Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said Villar (ankle) "has probably had the best spring of anybody on our club," Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Analysis:
Villar is hitting .286 (10-for-35) with a double, three triples, eight RBI and two stolen bases in 18 appearances for the Astros this spring. He's also shown increased versatility on defense, spending time at second base, shortstop, third base and center field as he looks to improve his chances of making Houston's Opening Day roster for the second straight year. Luhnow went on to predict Villar would have a breakout season for the Astros, but he figures to open 2015 as a utility option off the bench. Deeper league fantasy owners in need of stolen bases should consider stashing him in case he steps into a regular role.
