Royals' Rios dealing with thumb injury

Joe Camporeale / USA TODAY Sports

Kansas City Royals outfielder Alex Rios is having issues with the same thumb that cut his season short a year ago.

Rios will be shut down for the next two-to-three days after jamming his right thumb, manager Ned Yost told told reporters.

The 34-year-old played through a bruised thumb in August before he was officially sidelined on Sept. 4 after it was discovered that it had become infected.

Rios, who managed a career-low four home runs in 131 games last season, has three through 14 games this spring.
