Twins manager Paul Molitor said Thursday that Arcia's role as the left fielder isn't set and he's in competition for a job this spring, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Analysis:

Arcia is hitting just .258 with a .581 OPS and no home runs in 10 games this spring, and he's had his struggles defensively as well. Molitor's comments are likely just to motivate Arcia, as it's unlikely that the young outfielder will open the season on the bench, but his lack of improvement on defense could hurt his playing time eventually. Arcia may need to move to first base or DH, positions that are overloaded with talent in Minnesota at the moment.
