Veteran catcher John Buck has played his final game in the major leagues.

The 34-year-old ended his 11-year playing career Thursday in order to spend more time with his family.

Buck had been in camp with the Atlanta Braves this spring, but didn't figure to make the team's major-league roster.

Selected in the seventh round of the 1998 draft by the Houston Astros, Buck went on to appear in 1,090 games split between the Kansas City Royals, Toronto Blue Jays, Miami Marlins, New York Mets, Pittsburgh Pirates, Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels.

Buck's first and only All-Star season came in 2010 with the Blue Jays, where he slashed .281/.314/.489 with a career-high 20 home runs and 66 RBIs in 118 games.

He finishes his career with a .234/.301/.398 line to go with 134 home runs, 491 RBIs and 844 hits.
