Jorge De La Rosa: (Groin) Unlikely To Be Ready For Opener

De La Rosa (groin) has been limited to just playing catch, and is unlikely to be ready for the start of the season, the Denver Post's Nick Groke reports.

Analysis:

Manager Walt Weiss said that De La Rosa has "pretty much been shut down," and it is looking like he will start the year on the disabled list due to the chronic groin injury. While prospects Jon Gray and Eddie Butler will probably get a shot at some point this season, the Rockies may opt to slot in someone like Christian Bergman or David Hale if De La Rosa only figures to miss a short stretch of time. A more concrete timetable should be issued for De La Rosa once his groin soreness begins to die down a bit.
