MLB Game Summary - San Diego at Chicago Cubs

Mesa, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Tommy Medica homered and drove in three runs in the San Diego Padres' 6-1 win over the Chicago Cubs on Sunday.

James Shields, signed by the Padres late in the offseason, struck out six in five hitless innings without allowing a run. Brett Wallace added two hits and drove in a pair for San Diego.

Jason Hammel matched Shields pitch-for-pitch by striking out nine in five scoreless innings for the Cubs, but their offense could only collect four hits.

Francisley Bueno and Gonzalez Germen were charged with two and three runs, respectively, out of Chicago's bullpen.
