Blue Jays' Bautista scratched with hamstring tightness; Gibbons says he's fine

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista was held out of Friday's lineup against the Baltimore Orioles after experiencing tightness in his right hamstring.

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons sounded unconcerned after the game, noting Bautista's absence was strictly precautionary.

"His hammy tightened up on him a little bit," Gibbons told reporters, "he'll be fine."

It was initially believed that Bautista would not play due to inclement weather, which caused the game to be delayed by 90 minutes.

Bautista, who appeared in his most games last season since 2010, missed just eight games due to a right thigh strain in June.
