First baseman Ji-Man Choi (leg) was designated for assignment by the Seattle Mariners on Thursday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Analysis:
This move comes on the same day that Choi underwent surgery to repair his broken right leg, suffered during Wednesday's Cactus League game. Choi is expected to miss 4-to-6 months as a result of the injury. Edgar Olmos (shoulder) took his place on the 40-man roster.
