LEADING OFF: What's on deck today at spring training

What to watch for today at spring training:

---

HURRY UP!

Major League Baseball's new pace of play rules get their first look. Fans will see clocks counting down between innings, showing how much time pitchers have to finish their warmups and letting hitters know when to be ready.

TOP THIS

Giants newcomer Nori Aoki will bat leadoff when the World Series champions play Oakland. Angel Pagan might wind up hitting there when the season starts, but he'll sometimes bat in the No. 3 slot this spring.

BETTER LUCK THIS YEAR

Ubaldo Jimenez starts for the Orioles in their exhibition opener vs. Detroit. He was a bust last season after signing a rich contract, and was left off Baltimore's roster in the AL Championship Series.

MISSING

Phillies second baseman Chase Utley won't play against the Yankees while recovering from a sprained right ankle. Alex Rodriguez won't be in the lineup for New York.

ONE MORE TRY

Jason Marquis starts for the Reds against Cleveland. The 36-year-old righty was out of the majors last year, and is hoping to earn a spot with Cincinnati.

REMEMBER ME?

Toronto catcher Russell Martin can catch up with his old Pittsburgh pals. He left the Pirates and signed with the Blue Jays in the offseason - the teams play each other in Dunedin, Florida.
