Rickie Weeks will get most of the starts against lefties in left field and will also serve as the backup first baseman for the Mariners this season, 710 ESPN's Shannon Drayer reports.

Weeks will get most of the starts against lefties in left field and will also serve as the backup first baseman for the Mariners this season, 710 ESPN's Shannon Drayer reports.

Analysis:

This should not come as a surprise, as Weeks fares much better against lefties, while Dustin Ackley is better against righties. Weeks has a .261/.385/.448 career slash line against southpaws, and could see 250-300 plate appearances via this platoon in 2015. In addition, it is worth noting that Weeks, not Willie Bloomquist, will be Logan Morrison's backup at first base, which could add to Weeks' value in NL-only leagues.
