Report: Blue Jays sign Dayan Viciedo to minor-league contract

Rick Osentoski / USA TODAY Sports

Dayan Viciedo has agreed to a minor-league contract with the Toronto Blue Jays, Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports.

Analysis:

This makes a lot of sense considering Michael Saunders is slated to miss four-to-six weeks with a knee injury, placing his status in doubt for Opening Day. Look for Viciedo to compete for a spot on the Jays' big league roster as an outfielder who can play against lefties, but it is also possible that he spends a good portion of the season at Triple-A. The best way to utilized Viciedo in fantasy would be in daily leagues when he's in the lineup against a southpaw.
