De La Rosa is not considered a lock for the Arizona rotation to begin the season, but he is leading candidate to handle one of the three open spots behind Josh Collmenter and Jeremy Hellickson.

Analysis:

With a long list of options in camp vying for the three available spots, and the potential for prospects Archie Bradley, Braden Shipley, and Aaron Blair to push their way into the mix at some point in 2015, De La Rosa will have to pitch well in order to secure a spot regardless of whether he breaks camp as a member of the rotation, or has to wait for one of his counterparts to struggles. Thus far, the Diamondbacks haven't provided any indication that De La Rosa would shift to the bullpen if he fails to begin the year as a starter.
