Melvin Upton Jr.: (Foot) Out Until May

Upton (foot) is expected to be out until at least May 1, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Analysis:

Upton will be in a cast for two weeks and then will transition to a walking boot for another four-to-six weeks. From there, he will need to begin the rehab process before finally returning to the lineup. While the timetable could change, as of now he's slated to miss at least the first month of the season, but that absence could extend even longer.
