Report: Brady Aiken to pitch for Florida postgraduate team, re-enter MLB draft

Brady Aiken, the first overall pick in 2014, will reportedly pitch for the postgraduate team at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. this spring in order to reclaim his eligibility for the MLB draft.

Aiken is expected to report to the private school this week and could see game action by early March, according to ESPN's Keith Law. A source tells ESPN that Aiken will likely make seven to nine starts for IMG in a showcase ahead of the Rule 4 draft on June 8.

The Houston Astros selected Aiken with the top pick last year, but failed to come to terms with the 18-year-old left-hander by the July 15 signing deadline. Houston will receive the second pick in this year's draft as compensation for Aiken, but can't select him again without his consent.

Aiken dominated prep competition last season, pitching to a 1.06 ERA with 111 strikeouts to 15 walks over 11 starts for Cathedral Catholic High School. He committed to UCLA for the upcoming season before opting to join IMG.
