Analysis:

The three-time All-Star came into camp slightly behind the Giants' other starters but has evidently caught up, having completed a couple of extensive bullpen sessions in the first week of spring training. Cain was limited to just 15 starts last season after making at least 30 in each of the previous eight seasons. He had surgery to remove bone chips from his right elbow in August and then underwent another procedure to remove a bone spur from his ankle in September.
