Giants' Hudson expects to be ready for start of season

San Francisco Giants right-hander Tim Hudson is back on track after an initial setback to start his spring.

Manager Bruce Bochy said last week that the 39-year-old was behind schedule in his recovery from right ankle surgery, though Hudson updated his status Wednesday and said he doesn't believe he'll have the start of his season delayed.

"My arm felt pretty good and I had my legs under me," Hudson told Chris Haft of MLB.com following a throwing session. "I felt like I'm well on my way to where I want to be."

Hudson added that, barring any setbacks, he expects to be ready to make a start in the first week of the regular season.

The 16-year veteran, who's entering the final year of his contract, posted a 9-13 record and 3.57 ERA in 31 starts last season.
