Matt Williams will be sticking around for another couple seasons in Washington.

The Nationals exercised their 2016 club option on the manager's contract Saturday, the team announced.

"We are happy to pick up Matt's option for the 2016 season," team president of baseball operations and general manager Mike Rizzo said. "It shows the great confidence we have in Matt to continue to lead this team on the field."

Williams was named the 2014 BBWAA National League Manager of the Year. He led the Nationals to a NL-leading 96 wins as a rookie skipper, but more will be expected in 2015, as Washington is a World Series favorite after signing Max Scherzer.
