Prince Fielder on improving health: 'I'll play a pickup game right now'

Prince Fielder's surgically-repaired neck shouldn't be an issue in 2015.

"I'll play a pickup game right now," the Texas Rangers slugger exclaimed at a team dinner Friday.

Fielder, who's usually incredibly durable despite his massive frame, went under the knife last May, snapping his consecutive-games streak at 547.

"It was real difficult because I wasn't used to missing games," Fielder added. "So to miss a lot of the season, it was difficult at first but I had to be an adult about it and kind of try to just get back healthy to be ready this year."

Fielder, who was acquired by the Rangers in exchange for Ian Kinsler during the 2013 offseason, revealed he's made some changes in his workout routine that should help keep him healthy this season.

The 30-year-old has been one of the most consistent power hitters in the game since 2006, bashing at least 25 home runs and driving in 81 runs in every season except for last year's injury-riddled campaign.
