Report: Rangers, Moreland agree to 1-year contract

Rick Osentoski / USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers avoided arbitration with first baseman Mitch Moreland by agreeing to a one-year contract, the team announced Friday.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Moreland wanted $3.35 million and the team offered $2.75 million when the two sides swapped salary demands. The contract would presumably fall somewhere in between those numbers.

The 29-year-old hit .246 with two home runs and 23 RBIs in 52 games.
