Sogard agreed to a one-year, $1.075 million contract with the A's on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.

Analysis:

The 28-year-old's salary will more than double (from $510,000) in his first year of arbitration, though $1.075 million is a relatively modest number for a player who has appeared in 247 games at the major league level over the past two seasons. Sogard can only blame himself for his low market value, as he posted a dismal .223/.298/.268 batting line and one home run in 329 plate appearances last season.
